About this scholarship
U.S. or Canadian citizens pursuing an MLS who plan to work in children's librarianship serving youth up to age 14 may apply. You must attend an ALA-accredited program and not have completed more than 12 MLS semester hours before June 1 of the award year.
Up to two scholarships of $8,000 each are awarded annually.
Apply through the ALA Scholarship Clearinghouse by March 1.
The Frederic G. Melcher Scholarship honors a leader in promoting better books for children and is funded through ALSC contributions.
