About this scholarship

For second- or third-year domestic students in the J.D. program at UBC's Peter A. Allard School of Law with good academic standing. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated an interest in labour law and the betterment of working conditions for workers and unionized employees within B.C. or Canada.

Awards totalling $2,200 are available through an endowment. They are made on the recommendation of the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Apply through the continuing student awards application.

The endowment was established by friends, family, and colleagues in honour of Allan E. Black (B.A. 1966, LL.B. 1969), K.C., a founding partner of Black Gropper known for labour and employment practice.
