About this scholarship

Alaska residents who have lived in the state at least 365 days, are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, hold a high school diploma or GED, and are enrolled at least half time in an undergraduate degree or vocational certificate program at a qualifying Alaska postsecondary institution may receive the Alaska Education Grant. Students who have not yet earned a bachelor's degree and meet satisfactory academic progress requirements are eligible.

Need-based awards range from $500 to $4,000 per academic year. The number of recipients varies, and funds are limited with priority given to earlier FAFSA submissions.

File the FAFSA each year and select at least one qualifying Alaska institution. Students who receive an AEG Intent Form notification must complete and return it within the specified timeline.

The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education administers the grant through the state's need-based aid program.
