About this scholarship
Library support staff members who are U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents and are pursuing an MLS in an ALA-accredited program may apply for the ALA Tony B. Leisner Scholarship. Applicants must not have completed more than 12 semester hours or one-third of required semester hours toward the degree before June 1 of the award year.
Recipients receive $3,000 annually. The number of awards varies.
Submit a complete application through the ALA Scholarship Clearinghouse by the deadline.
The scholarship supports library support staff pursuing accredited master's degrees in library and information science.

- Official academic transcripts from bachelor's degree institution(s) and any ALA-accredited/NCATE master's-level work
- Applicant must be a library support staff member pursuing an MLS in an ALA-accredited program
- U.S. or Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Single shared ALA online application; one personal statement covers all general-category scholarships
- Deadline: all materials must reach the ALA Scholarship Clearinghouse by March 1
