About this scholarship

For second- or third-year J.D. students at UBC's Peter A. Allard School of Law who are from communities that have been historically, persistently, and systemically marginalized. Financial need may be considered.

Awards totalling $2,000 made available annually through a gift in memory of Afreen Ahmed (1959-2019) from her daughter. The awards are made on the recommendation of the Peter A. Allard School of Law.

Afreen received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Karachi in Pakistan, where she was a school teacher. After immigrating to Canada she completed early childhood education courses and became a child caregiver, raising and enriching the lives of many children for over twenty years.
