Adel Foundation Award in Classical Persian Poetry

Open to outstanding UBC Vancouver undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Asian Studies studying classical Persian poetry. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated interest through coursework and/or writing their own Persian poetry.

Awards totalling $3,500 are funded through the Adel Foundation Fund in honour of Mahmoud Adel-Sabzevari. The per-recipient amount varies. Awards are made on the recommendation of the Department of Asian Studies; for graduate students, selection is in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. There is no separate student application.

Mahmoud Adel-Sabzevari was a renowned author, editor, translator, and teacher whose most significant passion was Persian literature.
