About this scholarship

Chemistry professionals with at least one year of chemistry-related work experience and no more than one year as a high school chemistry teacher who are pursuing a master's in education or teacher certification may apply for ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarships. Stipends are up to $6,000 for full-time study or up to $3,000 for part-time study, renewable up to three years.

Applicants need a bachelor's or higher in chemistry or a related field, acceptance into an education or certification program, and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Recipients receive mentoring throughout a three-year teaching commitment.

The scholarship helps career changers enter the high school chemistry teaching profession.
