About this scholarship

Active Alabama National Guard members in good standing enrolled at Alabama public postsecondary institutions may apply through their unit education services officer for ANGEAP tuition assistance, administered by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. Need-based awards are up to $12,454 per academic year.

Applicants must be at least 17 and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate) each semester. Assistance covers tuition and educational fees for up to 120 academic hours. Applications are offered three times per year depending on enrollment term.

ANGEAP provides financial support for Guard members pursuing higher education at public Alabama colleges and universities.

  • Alabama National Guard Education Services Officer certification
  • Be 17 years of age or over
  • Active member in good standing with a federally-recognized unit of the Alabama National Guard
  • Completed basic training
  • Pursuing first undergraduate / first graduate / first postgraduate degree (assistance for one degree only)
  • Enrolled in a certificate or degree program at an accredited Alabama community/technical college, college, or university (in-state)
  • Maintain cumulative 2.00 GPA (undergraduate) / 3.00 GPA (graduate)
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file
  • Demonstrate financial need of at least $100.00
  • Disclosure of Social Security Number (required as a condition of participation)
  • Student signature (wet or digital) on the application
  • Institution certification by VA Rep / Financial Aid Coordinator (Section II)
  • State Military Department certification by Education Services Officer (Section III)
  • Applications are offered three times annually depending on enrollment term.
