About this scholarship

Musicians with disabilities ages 14 to 25 may apply, including soloists and ensembles of two to five members where at least one member has a disability. Open to U.S. and international artists in any genre, including voice.

Selected artists receive financial stipends of varying amounts, plus professional development workshops, mentoring, and performance opportunities at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Recipient counts and stipend sizes vary by year. Disability covers a broad range of visible and less visible conditions, including anxiety, ADHD, chronic illness, and neurodivergence.

  • Three links to musical recordings, each no more than 10 minutes, recorded within the past year, with title and composer
  • Narrative statement of up to 250 words or video-clip alternative
  • Completed online application
  • Three (3) links to musical recordings (YouTube full youtube.com format or Vimeo), max 10 minutes each, recorded within the past year, with title and composer for each piece
  • Complete the online application form
  • Narrative statement may be submitted as a video clip instead of text
  • Soloists and ensembles of two to five members may apply; an ensemble must include at least one member with a disability.
  • The narrative should address biographical information, solo or ensemble experience, musical goals, and reasons for selection.
