About this scholarship
First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students registered in grade 12 at a City of Calgary high school who are completing diploma requirements and plan to pursue post-secondary studies in any field. Applicants should show academic progress and strong attendance at school and community cultural events. Preference is given to applicants with financial need.
One award of $1,000 is available through the Nickle Family Foundation, administered via Aboriginal Futures. Submit an original essay of about 500 words on a meaningful First Nations, Métis, or Inuit cultural experience or mentorship and on financial circumstances affecting post-secondary plans, plus at least one reference letter from a school official, employer, community leader, or Band official speaking to community involvement and leadership. Selection weighs academics, the essay, and the reference.
