Eligibility
About this scholarship
For Canadian citizens or permanent residents of any age who have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis and are enrolled in or awaiting acceptance to a Canadian university, college, or trade school for a diploma, associate, undergraduate, or graduate credential.
Crohn's and Colitis Canada awards 15 one-time scholarships of $5,000 CAD each through the AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program.
Applications require a completed online form, a 500-word essay on wellness, academic goals, and community involvement, a proof of diagnosis form signed by a health care provider, an applicant consent form, and two letters of personal recommendation. Past recipients and employees of AbbVie or Crohn's and Colitis Canada (and their immediate families) are not eligible.
Each year the Shard family also selects one of the 15 recipients for the Clinton Shard Memorial Honour, which is an honour rather than an additional scholarship.
