About this scholarship

U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents diagnosed with cystic fibrosis who are enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college, university, or trade or vocational school may apply.

Forty scholars each receive $3,000. Applications require an essay, a creative presentation, and cystic fibrosis verification materials. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply.

Additional Thriving Student awards may be available through a public voting process after initial selection.

  • Essay must be no more than 500 words (essays exceeding the 500-word limit will not be considered); for the online application it must be uploaded as a Microsoft Word document
  • Do not include any specific brand and/or product names (including generic names of medications) in the essay; also omit personally identifiable information such as your last name
  • Creative Presentation (separate from the essay): a piece of visual, verbal, and/or auditory expression; hard copy of the creative submission must be limited in size, and if music, limited to one song
  • Extracurricular activities/achievements list limited to 10 total achievements from the past four years
  • Verification materials: note from physician/CF center confirming CF diagnosis, proof of enrollment in an accredited university/program for fall 2026, and a transcript or report card confirming current
  • Eligibility: students with cystic fibrosis pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree who have completed high school or obtained a GED
  • Creative presentation may be visual, verbal, and/or auditory; music is limited to one song.
  • Additional Thriving Student awards may involve public voting after initial selection.
