About this scholarship
Alberta-certified teachers who are ATA members in good standing may apply if enrolled in a graduate certificate, diploma, or master's program in education at a recognized public Canadian university. Applicants need at least five years (or 700 days equivalent) of successful K-12 teaching in Alberta at the highest possible ATA membership level, and must not have previously received this bursary.
The bursary is $5,000. Research must focus on teachers' health, working conditions, contemporary issues in professional practice or public education, or innovative approaches to teaching or school leadership. Applicants should intend to continue contributing to K-12 public education in Alberta after the program, and cannot also apply for the ATA Doctoral Fellowship in Education or the Belairdirect Scholarship in the same year.
