About this scholarship

Returning undergraduate women in Washington state who are at least 24 years old, graduated from a King County high school, and demonstrate financial need may apply for AAUW Seattle Branch scholarships. Up to three awards of up to $15,000 are available.

Applicants must be accepted at a Washington public four-year university or a Bachelor of Applied Science program at Green River, Highline, North Seattle, Seattle Central, Shoreline, or South Seattle College. You must not already hold a bachelor's degree and must enroll at least half-time for a full academic year. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and DACA recipients are eligible.

Complete the application with proof of enrollment and financial need documentation. The scholarship supports students whose college education was interrupted.

  • Enrolled/accepted in a bachelor's degree program in nursing or public health at Bellevue College, Green River College, Seattle Central College, Univ. of Washington, Washington State Univ., or Western
  • College cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation on official letterhead (at least one from a faculty member)
  • Unofficial college transcript
  • DACA recipients must submit official government documentation of DACA status
  • Required financial-need short answers (explain why seeking financial assistance and steps taken/planned to pay for education; full financial information section)
  • If a finalist, agree to a Zoom or phone interview in May
